Founded by Lai Ah Lai PJM/PJK/PKT, Chong Yee Orchestra was established with an aim to improve and enhance appreciation of Chinese traditional music as well as increase public awareness of the art and bring together enthusiasts with a common interest.Led by the founder who himself is a distinguished conductor in Malaysia, the orchestra also thrived under the expert guidance of a professional advisory panel consists of Singapore Chinese Orchestra's (SCO) Concertmaster Li Bao Shun and renowned musicians Chew Keng How and Lim Sin Yeo. The orchestra commonly performs in smaller groups made up primarily by professional orchestral musicians and enthusiastic amateurs. Since its inception, the orchestra has been invited to perform in various functions and external music activities like banquets and inauguration ceremonies among others.
